My Hotel Review: Fuxin Hotel Tainan (Tainan Fuxin Hotel)

投稿日:2023-04-15 更新日:

If you’re sightseeing in Tainan, I recommend the area around Chihkan Tower.

This was my first time going to Tainan, so I did a lot of research beforehand.

It seems that the accommodation areas are roughly divided into these three areas.

台南おすすめエリア

From NICOLENA WORLD

① Around Tainan Station: Convenient transportation due to its proximity to Tainan Station. Many buses to major tourist attractions depart from and arrive at this location.

② Around Chihkan Tower: An area where you can enjoy sightseeing, gourmet food, massages, and shopping.

③ Around Mitsukoshi: A quiet area where you can purchase luxury hotels and brand-name goods.

Since I prioritized sightseeing and dining in Tainan, I looked for a hotel in area ②, which seemed convenient for sightseeing.

This time, I decided to stay at the Fuxin Hotel Tainan (Tainan Fuxin Grand Hotel), which seemed clean and convenient.

Upon exiting Tainan Station, there is a taxi stand right in front, so you can easily hop into a taxi.

Tainan Station Taxi area

Almost no one speaks English or Japanese in Tainan, but when I told the taxi driver “Fuxing Hotel” a few times, he said “OK!”, so it seems to be a well-known hotel.

Hotel from outside

The hotel is located roughly as shown in the picture; if you head west along the main street in front of Tainan Station, you’ll find the hotel.

It’s about a 20-minute walk from the station.

By taxi, it only takes a few minutes, and taxis in Tainan are inexpensive, so I recommend taking a taxi.

My fare from Tainan Station to the hotel was 95 Taiwanese dollars (about 400 yen).

The lobby doesn’t have flashy furnishings, but it’s simply and elegantly designed.

The check-in process was efficient, and I was able to go to my room right away.

Some staff members spoke a little Japanese.

Staying at Deluxe Family Room

I booked this time through Agoda because I wanted an immediate cash discount rather than using hotel points.

It’s a four-star hotel, so it’s quite nice.

It seems to have been renovated and reopened in 2014, so the interior is also very clean.

We booked a 39-square-meter Family Deluxe Room with two double beds.

This time, it was for two adults for two nights, and the cost was 10,450 Taiwanese dollars.

With an 8,000 yen cashback, the effective cost was 18,000 yen per night.

As it’s called a Family Room, it seems it’s originally intended for a family of four.

There were also regular twin rooms, but we were attracted by the 39-square-meter size and chose this plan.

Considering it was a weekend rate, I think it was pretty reasonable.

I was surprised when I entered the room—it was incredibly spacious!

It was listed as a double bed, but it was actually two queen-size beds in Japan.

There was also a large wall-mounted TV,

There are also large desks available for work.

It seems like a convenient place to stay for work.

The closet is equipped with slippers and a safe.

Laundry service is also available upon request.

There was a place where you could get drinks, and I was grateful that there was plenty of water available.

There wasn’t a microwave, but there was a small refrigerator, so I was able to keep the water cold.

The bathroom and kitchen areas are spacious and easy to use.

The room is spacious, and the bathroom sink area is especially roomy.

It’s not brand new, but it has everything you need.

The hairdryer is even stored in the shelf below.

I didn’t use the amenities much, but the toothbrush head was large, so I used my own toothbrush that I brought with me.

The shower and bathtub were separate, and shampoo and body soap were provided.

There was no conditioner, so if that’s important to you, you might want to bring your own.

I didn’t do anything to my hair for a couple of days, thinking it was okay if my cuticles were a little damaged.

The toilet had a bidet function.

However, Taiwan’s sewage system isn’t as robust as Japan’s, so it’s best to throw toilet paper in the provided trash can.

The paper doesn’t flush easily, which can be worrying.

And, after a tiring journey, a bathtub is a welcome sight.

It’s large enough to hold plenty of hot water.

Breakfast will be served in the breakfast area on the first floor.

Breakfast starts at 6:30.

It’s great for us early risers that breakfast starts in the 6 o’clock hour.

It seems good for business people who want to get an early start to their day.

The venue is quite spacious, but it gets quite crowded when it coincides with the meal times of tour groups.

There’s nothing we can do about that, as it’s unpredictable.

The photos are from the first day.

On the first day, I went right when breakfast opened, so it wasn’t crowded at all, and I was able to take my time choosing from the menu.

It’s a buffet style, so you can choose from a variety of options.

They had a wide variety of congee and steamed buns.

They have an open kitchen where they serve warm soups and noodles.

You can find daikon mochi (radish cakes) under the lights at the counter.

The menu changes from day to day, but the delicious dishes from the first day were the marinated salmon in the foreground of the photo and the chicken dish in the background that resembles drooling chicken.

The topping for the braised pork rice (Lu Rou Fan) consists of noodles topped with minced pork and radish cake.

Although not pictured, the radish cake was also delicious.

On the second day, the most delicious things were the famous beef soup and

Lu Rou Fan (braised pork rice).

It’s absolutely delicious when you pour plenty of the sweet and savory sauce over it.

I thought the meat on top was just minced meat, but it also included fatty parts, which really enhanced the flavor.

My impressions of staying at Fuxing Hotel Tainan

This hotel was incredibly convenient for sightseeing.

Nearby, there was a drink shop, a fast-food restaurant with delicious-looking fried chicken (which always had a line!), and across the street, a food stall selling delicious-looking zongzi (rice dumplings).

Also, the Yongle Market, with its delicious douhua (tofu pudding) shops, and the traditional Shennong Street with its old buildings were all within walking distance. There were also many good restaurants nearby, which was great.

We were able to visit various tourist spots, return to the hotel for lunch to rest, and then go out for dinner, which allowed us to enjoy ourselves while conserving energy.

We hesitated because the area around Tainan Station seemed to have better transportation, but there was a bus stop near Yongle Market, so it wasn’t too much of a problem.

We booked a 36 square meter family room, but a 33 square meter twin room would have been spacious enough for two adults.

I later learned that one of the hotel’s selling points is the size of its rooms, and they also have triple rooms available.

I wasn’t informed at the front desk during check-in, so I’m not sure if they still offer this service, but some websites mentioned that they provide shuttle service to Tainan Station (1.2km away) and also offer pick-up and drop-off to various locations in Tainan, as well as free bicycle rentals. I wish I had tried it.

A 33-square-meter double or twin room cost approximately 12,000 yen per night for two people with breakfast included.

I think it’s possible to stay for even cheaper on weekdays, so I would definitely like to use this hotel again when I visit Tainan.

Address:No. 336號, Chenggong Rd, North District, Tainan City, 台湾 704

TEL: +88662227373

Access from Tainan Station:It’s about a 20-minute walk, or about a 5-minute taxi ride costing around 100 Taiwanese dollars.

Nearest tourist attractions: Yongle Market, Shennong Street, Chihkan Tower

A tourist spot that’s a bit of a walk away but just within walking distance: Hayashi Department Store

My Memo: The toothbrushes are on the larger side. There’s no Febreze, but laundry service (for a fee) is available. Shampoo and body wash are provided, but no conditioner. Breakfast is delicious. I wanted to get a foot massage, but there weren’t any good places nearby. There’s the Yongle Market nearby, so you won’t have any trouble finding food.

Overall, it was a spacious and comfortable hotel.

I booked this hotel through Agoda, but for overseas hotel bookings, especially for stays of several nights, Hotels.com is also recommended.

You get one free night after 10 nights.
