Bak Kut Teh, located just a few minutes walk from Jujo Station
Did you know that there is a famous dish of stewed spare ribs eaten in Malaysia and Singapore?
The meat on the bone is stewed until it is very tender, and both the soup and the meat are incredibly delicious.
Malaysian bak kut teh has a soup color similar to that of soy sauce, while Singaporean bak kut teh has a nearly clear soup seasoned with garlic and pepper. Both are appetizing foods and I love them.
Unfortunately, there are not many restaurants that serve bak kut teh even in Tokyo, so I personally think that the restaurant I will introduce this time reproduces the taste of authentic bak kut teh quite faithfully, making it a rare restaurant.
The name of the restaurant is exactly Bak Kut Teh.
That’s exactly what it sounds like.
The bak kut teh at this restaurant is Malaysian style.
The restaurant is about a one-minute walk from Jujo Station on the JR Saikyo Line.
Jujo Station has only one exit, so once you exit, walk diagonally to the right and you will come to a side street. The restaurant is on the corner at the end of that street.
The main dish is, of course, Bak Kut Teh, and you can choose between light and rich soup.
I think you can choose the size from small, regular, or large.
I chose the set menu that included a drink, salad, and two toppings.
The soup had a light flavor and I chose the regular size. After waiting a few minutes, my Bak Kut Teh arrived, served in a clay pot.
I chose coriander and fried tofu as toppings.
First, I took a sip of the soup.
The gentle flavor seeped into my body.
It was piping hot because it was cooked in a clay pot.
I ordered jasmine tea and was given a refill of hot water.
To change up the flavor, there was chopped garlic and a green chili sauce called dark sauce for the Bak Kut Teh.
I ate it with garlic and dark sauce.
They have long, thin fried bread called youtiao, but I couldn’t decide whether to eat it or not, so I decided not to because I wouldn’t be able to finish it all this time.
When you order youtiao, it’s delicious to dip the bread into the soup before eating it.
It was so delicious that I finished it in no time.
It warmed me up and left me very satisfied!
I’d like to visit again.
