I stayed at The Reef Island Resort Mactan Cebu

I stayed at a resort hotel that opened at the end of 2022 in Mactan Island (Cebu).

Mactan Island is a famous resort area in Cebu.

The location of Mactan Island is like this, it is a small island next to Cebu Island.

Speaking of Cebu, some airlines have direct flights from Japan, so we tend to imagine that there is an airport on Cebu Island, but the airport is actually on Mactan Island.

And Mactan Island has many resort hotels.

I stayed this hotel in April 2023, but at this point, many of the review articles I saw about this hotel were pre-opening, and only the good points were emphasized, so I, who stayed at my own expense, would like to write honestly.

The name is a little long, but the English name is “The Reef Island Resort Mactan Cebu“.

Hotel Location

There were resort hotels such as Dusit Thani, Sheraton, and Shangri-La in the northern part of Mactan Island, but Reef is located a little further south than these.

It takes about 30 minutes by car from Cebu Mactan International Airport, and about 1 hour by public transportation and on foot.

The Reef Island Resort Mactan Cebu is about 18,000 yen (about 150USD) per night.

We access to the hotel by taxi or Grab.

Unfortunately, when you go out from the hotel, there are no taxis running around, so you will have to call a taxi at the hotel.

It costs an additional 100 pesos.

The hotel is located in a guarded area that can be called a village, but it takes about 5 minutes on foot from the village entrance to the hotel.

If you are familiar with Cebu, you may take a tricycle from the entrance of the village, but it is not a comfortable ride, so let’s go to a nearby mall or convenience store.

Hotel Lobby is spacious restaurant is accessible morning, lunch, and for dinner

The lobby is a spacious space.

The hotel building is divided into the main building and the annex, and I was assigned the annex room.

There was an elevator up to the 18th floor +P (penthouse?).

The parking lot is underground (UG), the entrance is on the 1st floor (G), and the lobby is on the 2nd floor (M).

There is a restaurant called The Kitchen and a bakery called The Bakery on the second floor.

These are the only two places where you can eat.

Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10:30, and there is an hour break before lunch.

Lunch is from 11:30 to 14:30.

Dinner time is from 17:30 to 22:00.

You can see the pool from inside The Kitchen.

This is the cafe space The Bakery.

Delicious-looking bread and coffee are sold, so it’s convenient for a light meal.

The inside of the store is like an open terrace, so there is a sense of openness.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so you can stay at the hotel and eat three meals a day.

If you eat and drink at other times, you will have to use the bakery or the in-room minibar.

Since it is a solitary island on land, I thought it would be convenient if there was another restaurant, etc., when I wanted to change my mood.

Other facilities include The SPA, The Lounge, fitness area, swimming pool and beach.

My room for tonight is Delux room with a balcony

The room was a deluxe room with balcony with partial ocean view, queen/king/super king bed and the view was amazing!

I couldn’t see the sunset from the direction of the window, but it’s a very calming room.

I found it interesting that the room key is a wristband and that the air conditioner stops when the balcony window is opened.

The wristband was convenient because I didn’t have to carry the key with me, but it can’t be used for room charges at the restaurant.

In the case of room charge, it is necessary to tell the room number and name.

The bed is big and the furniture in the room is new.

The soft and fluffy carpet is also comfortable.

The bathroom is new and spacious.

The chic and luxurious feel is comfortable.

The shower did not have a bathtub, but it was easy to use because it was not a fixed shower.

Shampoo and rinse are fixed type.

This is a cozy balcony.

Nearby cottages and beaches spread out below.

There are no tall buildings around, so there is nothing to block the view and the view is good.

I’m happy to have a place where I can feel the outside air.

Infinity pool and beach right in front of the hotel

After checking in, we used the pool in the afternoon.

It was a trendy infinity pool, so the feeling of openness was outstanding.

You might be able to enjoy sunbathing in the morning, but due to the positional relationship between the building and the pool, it was a pity that most of the afternoon was in the shade.

However, some people have been playing in the pool for a long time, so everyone has different tastes.

There were two pools, and there were places where beach chairs were placed in the shallow waters of the pools.

The scenery I saw while lying on a chair by the pool was in the shade, but as expected of a resort hotel! That’s what it feels like.

The view of the sea over the palm trees and the pool is exhilarating.

It’s not so wide when you go down the stairs beside the pool, but there is a private beach of the hotel.

If you want to enjoy the beach in earnest, there may be other places with better conditions such as Boracay Island, but it may be the best beach in Cebu Island to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and take a break. yeah.

Because it is a private beach of the hotel, beach chairs were prepared and people were sparse and there was a private feeling.

It seems that you can relax just by spending time on the beach while listening to the sound of the waves.

After enjoying the private beach for a while, we took a short walk around the hotel.

There was a pond on the parking lot floor and there was a carp.

There are carps in the Philippines too.

I saw it for the first time.

When the sun goes down in the evening, it is recommended to watch the sun sinking into the sea from the poolside.

As the sun sets on the sea side, you can see a beautiful sunset.

This time of day, when the color of the sky changed from moment to moment, was the perfect time.

Dinner has many selections

I had dinner at the hotel restaurant.

For dinner, I had a small amount of jasmine-flavored rice and satay, but it was very delicious.

The best seats in this restaurant are the terrace seats on the sea side.

There are only a few seats on the sea side terrace, so if you want to use this, we recommend coming early.

Breakfast is a buffet style

Breakfast is served at the hotel buffet.

It was a buffet, but the quality and variety were excellent.

The bread in the Philippines is surprisingly delicious.

This restaurant also served delicious bread.

The dessert section is also beautiful and has a wide variety.

Here are some of the buffet dishes.

There are so many different types that it can be hard to decide which one to pick.

There is also skewered meat such as satay.

They also have delicious lasagna.

A raw vegetable salad that is surprisingly rare in the Philippines.

A hotel with such a salad is a high point.

Here are some of the breakfasts I’ve been looking for.

The ham looks delicious, and the thick cut meat seems to be satisfying to eat.

This is a croissant with nuts.

It’s crispy and delicious.

 

What I thought about The Reef Island Resort Mactan Cebu 

The hotel was still new and everywhere was shiny.

The room was clean and easy to use, and it was new that the wristband changed the room key.

I had a great time during my stay.

The pool was an infinity pool and had a great sense of openness, but it was a little chilly because there were many hours in the shade.

The sunset was insanely beautiful.

The beach is in front of the hotel, so it was nice to be able to use it as the hotel’s private beach.

However, I felt a little inconvenient that there was no shuttle bus because there was nothing around the location.

Since there are no facilities to eat outside of the hotel restaurant, I wished that the food and drink facilities were a little more substantial, but the bread for breakfast was the most delicious!

There are many 5-star hotels around, and if you think that it costsalmost twice as much for a similar location, you can enjoy a resort hotel at a reasonable price “The Reef Island Resort Mactan Cebu (The Reef Island Resort)・Mactan Cebu)” was good.

If you’re looking for a hotel overseas, you’ll probably want to stay several nights, so it might be a good idea to book through Hotels.com.

If you stay 10 nights, 1 night will be free, so you can save 10 nights quite early.

My accommodation fee this time was about 18,000 yen, but this price seemed to stay the same even if two people stayed.

If two people use it, it will be less than 10,000 yen per person, so I thought it was a good deal.

Looking at the Hotels.com site, it seems that there is also a triple room with 3 beds in 1 room, so I think it is a convenient hotel for traveling with a large number of people, such as 3 or 4 people. rice field.

Perhaps soon the facilities in the village will be enhanced and it will become more convenient, so I hope to be able to visit again at that time.
