Hotel Review: Onyado Nono Matsue & Good restaurant around the hotel

投稿日:2024-05-21 更新日:

I stayed at Onyado Nono Matsue, a natural hot spring with Dandan no Yu

This time, I stayed at Onyado Nono Matsue, a natural hot spring with Dandan no Yu, in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture.

Maybe because I stayed on a weekday, a twin room was available for last-minute bookings about 2-5 days in advance, so I immediately made a reservation on Jalan.

I often stay at Nono when I travel, but it has become popular recently and it is difficult to get a room at the price I want, so I was lucky this time.

Nono Matsue is located on the right side of Lake Shinji.

I came from Izumo on the Ichibata Electric Railway, so the nearest station was Matsue Shinji Onsen Station. From there I took a bus to Matsue Station and got off at Suetsuku Jinja-mae, the bus stop closest to the hotel.

As I walked along the river towards the hotel, I found a dock for a sightseeing boat that goes around the moat of Matsue Castle, so I took the opportunity to do some sightseeing before checking in at Nono.

The interior is floored with tatami mats, so you put your shoes away in the shoe locker as soon as you enter.

The lobby has a calming Japanese theme.

Foreign staff members who spoke fluent Japanese were kind enough to guide me around and help me with the check-in process.

Tonight’s room is a twin room.

At Nono Matsue, all amenities seem to be prepared in the rooms, so there was no need to select any amenities before heading to the room.

Today I was on the 10th floor, which is quite a high floor.

I think this is probably because it was a twin room.

And this is what my room looks like today.

Since I’m staying alone I only have one bed, but the room is quite spacious.

The low tables and chairs that don’t feel oppressive are also typical of Nono.

廊下も結構広めで、外国人旅行客にも分かりやすいようにシャワーやトイレが絵文字で表示されていました。

The shower room is a large bath, so there is plenty of space to easily take a shower.

The wash area is also spacious.

There is also a seating area in the shower room, which is convenient for those who don’t like standing for long periods of time.

This Nono may have just opened.

The toilets are clean too.

Also, there is a good selection of indoor clothing for Nono.

There are medium and large sizes.

There are also plenty of hangers, which is nice.

The furnishings are generally on the low side.

The refrigerator here provides complimentary water and jelly for guests, which is a nice touch.

The jelly comes in a variety of flavors, but today it was Amaou, a famous strawberry brand from Fukuoka.

As is typical of modern lodgings, there is an electric light and power port next to the pillow, which is convenient.

This room is a corner room, and has light coming in from two sides, which is rare for Nono.

It was on a high floor, so the view was surprisingly good.

Relax and soothe your travel fatigue in hot springs

This is well known to travelers who make Nono their regular accommodation, but at Nono they leave a basket of bath products in your room, so all you have to do is change into the hotel’s loungewear, grab your bath kit and head straight to the large public bath.

Today’s water is dandan no yu.

It’s great to be able to enjoy a natural hot spring bath even though it’s a business hotel.

There was also a coin laundry available, with four washing machines and four dryers.

The washing machines were free, and the dryers were 100 yen for 20 minutes.

There were not many people using the large public bath, so I tried out the indoor bath, the reclining bath, and the outdoor open-air bath.

They can’t show the interior, so this is a picture of the large public bath on the TV in the building.

The outdoor bath was a little hot.

Personally, I liked the open-air bath in the evening.

The indoor bath was just right for a morning bath.

There are lots of free services in the post-bath area

Once you’ve soothed your fatigue in the bath, Nono’s free service awaits you in the post-bath corner.

There are three massage chairs, and I believe they are free to use.

There is also a choice of ice cream to enjoy after your bath.

Reading manga is also free.

Compared to other inns, there were fewer manga available.

I think I’d end up reading the whole thing while sitting in a chair in the post-bath corner.

For dinner, there are many restaurants near the hotel, so you can rest assured.

Dinner is not included in the stay at Nono, so we went out to eat.

There were many restaurants on the street in front of the hotel, so there seemed to be a variety of options.

Thinking it would be okay since it was a weekday, we went to a few places without making a reservation, but two of the places were fully booked, so the third place we ended up at was “Ko-ryori Nakahara.”

I was attracted by the word “ko-ryori.”

I am not sure if they can speak English, but if you want to try with your google translate, you can try it!

I also visited here after 6 o’clock, but it was quite full of local customers.

They asked me if it was okay if it took a while for the food to come out, and when I told them it was fine, they somehow managed to make a seat for one person.

The restaurant has counter seats and three tatami rooms.

I was shown to the counter, where the day’s dishes were laid out on large plates on the counter, so I was able to order while looking at the food.

I refrained from taking photos, but I ordered sashimi, boiled bamboo shoots, boiled rockfish, spare ribs, and oden, and everything was delicious.

I think I found a really good restaurant.

The food was served not too late, and it was very fun to watch the chef and young chef prepare the food efficiently.

It was a satisfying dinner.

Nono serves free midnight noodles every night from 9:30 pm to 11:00 pm.

I was wondering what to do, but I didn’t eat it this time.

I had breakfast buffet style in the dining room.

Breakfast is served buffet style in the dining room.

Now, it’s time for the long-awaited breakfast.

Breakfast is served from 6:30, which is great for early morning travelers.

Even if you book a plan that does not include breakfast, depending on the accommodation you can include breakfast for a fee.

The dining space is L-shaped and partially open, giving it an open feel.

Nono has a lot of menu items, so it’s always a hassle because they don’t all fit on the tray.

That’s what it looked like today.

I think they’ve carefully selected the ingredients.

You can also make your own seafood bowl.

I chose a regular portion so I wouldn’t get too full.

Perhaps because Sakaiminato is nearby, they also had crab, which was a luxury unlike other places.

The rest is a small bowl of dish,

揚げたての天ぷらと鮭。

抹茶塩をかけています。

There was a hot dish of meat and potatoes, so I had some.

The miso soup was a clear soup made with clams, which are famous in the local Lake Shinji.

For dessert, I had zenzai and yogurt.

I was pretty full after this.

The staff were very efficient and I really liked them.

I took a morning bath before checking out, and there were few other guests, so it was very relaxing.

Don’t forget to drink a lactic acid bacteria drink after the bath.

My impressions after staying at the natural hot spring Dandan no Yu Onyado Nono Matsue

It was a very satisfying stay with the reliable Nono quality.

I checked later and found out that the hotel will be opening in 2022, and it was very clean.

I booked the room at the last minute, but it was a spacious twin room and the bath was great.

The natural hot spring bath is one of the reasons to stay at Nono.

The location is also quite good, and it is close to the sightseeing boat dock that goes around the moat of Matsue Castle, so you can take a sightseeing boat to Matsue Castle, or you can walk or take a bus.

Matsue Shinjiko Onsen Station and Matsue Station are also easily accessible by bus.

There were many restaurants around the hotel for dinner, so it was very close and convenient.

I thought it would be crowded for breakfast, but I went after 7 o’clock and the seats were filled to a moderate degree and it didn’t feel cramped.

I was glad that I could eat local food.

I wish there was one more dish on the menu that is typical of Matsue.

This time we walked there, but there is a multi-storey car park on the premises, and if you arrive by large bus, there is a parking space right out front, so it seems convenient for getting on and off.

On the day I stayed there, many foreign guests had arrived in large buses, and I was surprised to see that Nono had become a place used by foreign tourists!

The free hospitality services were still in place, and I would like to stay again.

小料理 なかはら Koryo-ri Nakahara

I had dinner there.

It was delicious, and I’d like to recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Address:Shimane Prefecture Matsue City Higashihonmachi 1-32-2

Business Hours:17:00~23:00

My comment:Depending on the time of day, it may be crowded and difficult to get in, so if you know your plans in advance, we recommend making a reservation. The recommended menu of the day and the price are displayed in a visible place in the kitchen, so it is easy to order. The owner and waitresses were kind and attentive to my single customer, so I was able to eat comfortably. You can order rice and miso soup at the end of the meal. The miso soup was, of course, clam soup. Everything was delicious, and the sashimi at this restaurant was the best.
