4-star hotel in Dong Hoi: I stayed at Muong Thanh Holiday Quang Binh Hotel
This was my first time visiting Dong Hoi, and after some research I was wondering whether to stay in the city center or a hotel on the beach. Since I was going to join a tour in Dong Hoi, I decided to stay at Muong Thanh Holiday Quang Binh Hotel, which prioritized views and price.
I made the reservation through Hotels.com.
It was less than 10,000 yen for two nights, so I made the reservation without hesitation.
I think it was cheaper than other sites.
The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from Dong Hoi Airport.
It’s convenient to have the Uber app installed.
We arrived at Dong Hoi Airport just after 10:00.
It was still too early for check-in, but we headed to the hotel to drop off our luggage.
It’s a very nice large hotel.
I had some time before check-in, so I left my luggage there and they showed me a restaurant where I could have lunch.
For lunch, we decided to go to a local restaurant called “Bánh Bèo Cô Vân” that was recommended by the hotel staff.
It was about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, but the sun was strong and the temperature was high, so it was quite a strenuous walk, so be prepared.
It would be better to bring a parasol to help protect you.

Check in to a room with a great ocean view
I checked into my room in Dong Hoi.
It was a Deluxe Room with 2 Large Twin Bedrooms.
The interior is spacious and white-themed, giving it a resort feel.
The view from the window is also nice with a view of the sea.
There are plenty of amenities available and it looks like a comfortable stay.
It’s a world of difference from the lodging we stayed at the previous night.
There were also free bottles of water and cup ramen, which I think you have to pay for.
There was also a security box.
Apparently you can also request laundry service.
The washroom also looks clean and nice.
The amenities are also fine.
The toilets are also clean.
The bathroom is a shower type with no bathtub, but if you open the blinds you can enjoy the view outside from the shower room.
There were two types of shower heads, one that was fixed from above and one that had a handy head nozzle, and I felt that there was a difference in the quality of the furnishings.
There were also beach sandals prepared next to the closet.
They would come in handy when going to the hotel pool.
Take a stroll around the hotel and beat the heat in the hotel pool.
Vietnam is extremely hot.
During the daytime, the heat is somewhat negligible until around 8am.
After that, it’s hot almost all the time until the sun goes down.
First, I strolled around the lobby.
There was a lounge decorated in blue, but there were no daytime customers there.
There were also beautiful flower decorations.
There was a working space on the first floor that could be used for business purposes.
There was a space that could be used for small meetings or business trips.
There is also a buffet venue on the first floor where you can eat.
It looks like they also provide dinner for a fee.
It looks like it can be used by people from outside too.
I also have breakfast here.
It would be even more convenient if they opened it up as a cafe space.
There is also a fitness center, and although there are only a few guests using it, being able to exercise while looking at the outdoor scenery is something only a resort hotel can offer.
There were only a few gym machines, but they were all there.
As I walked along the exterior corridor of the building, I came across the pool for hotel guests.
It was open from 6:00am to 8:00pm.
The water is a little deep at 1.6m.
I think there was a shallow pool for children too, but I didn’t use it so I can’t remember where it was.
After swimming a bit, I spent some time on a beach chair by the pool.
In a 5-star hotel, you might be able to order drinks and food from the poolside, but this hotel did not offer such a service.
Bath towels are provided at the pool, so you don’t have to worry about coming empty-handed.
For dinner, I called Uber and went to a restaurant called Đặc sản banh lọc Mệ Xuân.

It’s located further down the road from the restaurant I went to for lunch.
Breakfast is a buffet in the breakfast area
Breakfast is a buffet served in the breakfast area in front of the reception.
The venue is spacious, and there is ample distance between tables, allowing you to dine at your leisure.
The appetizers and salads are presented in a colorful manner.
The salads also come with a variety of dressings.
I portioned it out lightly.
There is also a full food menu.
A mild tasting egg soup.
As expected of Vietnam.
They also had small pieces of French bread which were delicious.
I forgot, but I think there was a chef at the soup stand who made pho.
Pho is really delicious in Vietnam.
There was fruit for dessert.
My impressions of staying at Muong Thanh Holiday Quang Binh Hotel in Dong Hoi
I stayed for two nights and it was a very clean and good value hotel.
It took about 10 minutes by Uber taxi from the hotel to get there.
Check-in is from 2pm, but they kept my luggage until check-in and introduced me to many places to eat, so I enjoyed it.
The pool is also great for beating the heat.
This area is a little bit on the sea side from the downtown area where the restaurants are, so it wasn’t too crowded and I was able to relax.
However, I thought it would be quiet at night, but at night there was a seafood restaurant on the beach in front of the hotel, so music was playing for a while.
It was windy and a little chilly, but I had dinner at a food stall on the beach at night.
I only spoke Vietnamese, so I was nervous about ordering, but I managed to enjoy my meal.
The area around the hotel is currently under development, and there were many areas of construction work on the sidewalk in front of the hotel.
There were no convenience stores nearby, so I bought water and beer at the ice cream shop next to the hotel.
This time I stayed in Dong Hoi and took part in a cave bus tour, so I didn’t stay there with the intention of sightseeing in the city. Although it was a bit hot, I managed to get around by combining walking and Uber.
However, if you want to get around more on foot, it may be more convenient and easier to sightsee if you stay in an area closer to restaurants.
I had breakfast for two days, and although the taste was just okay, I started to get a little tired of it after eating it continuously.
There seems to be a lake near the hotel, so next time I have the chance to stay in Dong Hoi for a longer period of time, I’d like to explore the city a little more.

Memo:It is about a 15-minute drive from Dong Hoi Airport. It is about a 12-minute drive from Dong Hoi Station. There is a pool at the hotel, so it’s a good idea to bring a swimsuit. Uber was quite convenient for transportation, so I recommend installing the app.
