Stayed at Golden Lotus Airport Hotel & Travel
As I arrived at Hanoi Airport in the evening, I searched for a place to stay that was close to the airport and reasonably priced, and decided to stay at Golden Lotus Airport Hotel & Travel.
This is the distance from Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi on Google Maps.
It looks very close.
The price was cheap at around 2,600 yen, and the reviews didn’t seem bad, so I made an immediate reservation.
It’s too close to take a taxi
I arrived at Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi just about 10pm.
It was already pitch black outside, and the city was humid and hot, typical of Southeast Asia.
I was tired from the trip, so I headed to the taxi stand to check into my hotel as soon as possible. I tried to get to the hotel by calling out to several taxi drivers, but they refused to give me a ride, saying, “It’s close, you can walk there!”
It seems you can’t call Uber from the airport, so I had no choice but to walk along the main street along the airport with my suitcase.
It certainly took about 20 minutes on foot to get there, but the roads were not designed for pedestrians, and it was late at night, so I finally arrived at the hotel feeling a bit scared.
The room is simple but it’s enough for sleeping
The man at the front desk was out eating, so I called out to him and he helped me with the check-in procedure.
Since it was a weekday, there weren’t many guests staying there (we might have been the only ones), so they showed us a few rooms and let us choose which one we liked.
The first room we were shown didn’t have running water, so we had to change to a different room.
The room we chose was a spacious room with lovely pink wallpaper.
The room is minimally furnished and although there is a small window, there is no view.
As long as I could unpack my suitcase, take a shower, and sleep, it wasn’t a problem.
Free drinks were also provided.
Indoor sandals were also provided.
The shower room looks like this.
It has a simple design, similar to the shower rooms you’d find in an airport.
Shampoo, body soap, etc. are stored in a basket next to the sink.
I didn’t have any particular expectations, so it wasn’t a problem, but it had been a while since I’d stayed in a hotel of this caliber, so in a way it was refreshing.
It was late at night, so I took a shower and went to bed right away.
The air conditioning worked perfectly.
I had breakfast at a pho restaurant near the hotel.
Good morning.
I could faintly hear music outside yesterday, but I was tired and managed to sleep soundly.
The hotel doesn’t provide breakfast, so I decided to have it at a nearby pho restaurant.
It’s about a two-minute walk down the street next to the hotel.
It was still dark outside, but there was one other group of customers inside the restaurant.
The owner, a young woman, seemed to be running the place by herself.
She didn’t understand any English, so I managed to order by pointing at the menu.
The pho was brought to me promptly after I ordered.
I ordered beef pho.
I added the accompanying bean sprouts and coriander to the soup and took a sip.
The flavor was mild, but the broth was very flavorful and delicious.
It was the perfect breakfast.
The price was also cheap, only a few hundred yen, so I was very satisfied.
Payment was cash only.
After the meal, there was a coffee stand on the street in front of the hotel, so I had a cup of Vietnamese coffee.
The bittersweet coffee was delicious.
The next day, I was planning to travel from the hotel to Noi Bai Airport to transfer to a domestic flight, so I called a taxi using Uber.
It took less than five minutes by car, so it was cheap.
The other double rooms we were shown looked like this.
Other than the room I stayed in, the other rooms I was shown to were like this.
Even the double room was spacious enough.
There was also a window.
The layout is roughly the same as the other rooms.

Note: If you just want to sleep, this is a good hotel. Use it as a business hotel. The pho restaurant near the hotel was delicious. Whether I will return depends on the price.
This time I booked a “Queen bed 35 square meters city view” room through Agoda’s website.
If you plan to stay for consecutive nights, it’s a good idea to book through Hotels.com, where you can get one night free for every 10 nights you stay.
