I stayed at the R&B Hotel Umeda Higashi
I had a meeting in Osaka, so I wanted to stay at a cheap, comfortable hotel that was convenient and close to restaurants! So this time I stayed at the R&B Hotel Umeda Higashi.
I booked a non-smoking double room for one person.
The bed was 120 cm wide and the room was 11 square meters, which is quite compact, but I had a discount coupon and I was only going to sleep, so it was around 7,000 yen per night with breakfast included.
It was a bargain for the weekend.
I arrived in Osaka around 5pm in the evening, so it was already dark.
It was about a 7-8 minute walk from Umeda Station.
After passing through the arcade lined with restaurants, I came to a street lined with adult shops, and it was the time when the girls from the shops were out on the street and started soliciting customers.
It had a slightly nightlife atmosphere, but it didn’t feel particularly unsafe.
This is the exterior of the hotel.
There is a narrow entrance next to a convenience store, so I almost missed it at first glance, but there was an “R&B” sign, so I was able to enter without any problems.
It’s great that there’s a convenience store right next door.
At night, the entrance can be unlocked with a card key, but I was still able to enter the lobby during this time.
The entrance is locked after midnight, so you can unlock it with your room key.
The lobby space was quite small, with check-in being handled half by people and half by machines.
You pay in advance at the automatic payment machine in the lobby.
You are issued with a room key, select your amenities in the lobby, and then head to your room.
There is a coffee machine next to the lobby, and you can enjoy a welcome drink from 15:00 to 24:00.
Single room (11 square meters) before renovation
It seems that the R&B Hotel Umeda Higashi is currently undergoing rave reviews and some floors are not available for accommodation.
It seems that some parts have already been renovated, but the room I was in tonight seemed to be one of the rooms before the renovation.
The hallways were average, but not particularly unpleasant.
It gave the impression that the place was well cleaned.
I entered my room immediately.
There was a light switch and power plug next to the pillow, so it seemed like it would be no problem for one person to use it.
I thought the lights in the room were a bit dim, but I later discovered that I could adjust the brightness by rotating the cover next to the bed.
A TV, kettle, desk and chair were all provided, and there was also air conditioning.
The refrigerator was big enough to keep a few cans of beer cold.
You have to turn it on yourself.
Let’s take a look at the bathroom in a single room at R&B Hotel Umeda Higashi
The bathroom and sink are standard unit baths.
It’s a little old, but it does come with a washlet.
浴槽はこんな感じ。
It’s not large, but it’s well maintained.
I use the shampoo, conditioner, and body soap provided, so I’m not sure what brand they are, but I’m grateful that they’re available.
Female customers can choose face masks, shampoo, conditioner, etc. separately.
Let’s take a look at the lobby inside the R&B Hotel Umeda East Building
The lobby looks like this and seems to serve as a breakfast venue.
Coffee service is available until midnight, so it’s a convenient place to take a break.
Check out the coin laundry at R&B Hotel Umeda Higashi
There is also a coin laundry facility on-site.
Considering the size of this hotel, there are four drum-type washing machines that can also dry your clothes, so you won’t have to wait for a washing machine.
Washing only is 300 yen for up to 6kg, and 600 yen including drying, which is reasonable.
There is an automatic shoe shine machine right next to the entrance of R&B Hotel Umeda Higashi
There was also a shoe shine machine available, likely for business people.
Breakfast is served buffet style in the lobby on the first floor
Breakfast is available from 6:30 to 9:00.
You will be given a breakfast voucher when you check in, so make sure to bring it with you.
The hotel seems to put a lot of effort into the freshly baked bread for breakfast, and they advertised it on posters in the elevators and other places.
Since that was the case, I decided to try some GoGo Curry mini curry bread and croissants.
They also provided a toaster, so I was able to warm up the bread before eating it, which was great.
I also ordered salad and seasoned eggs, as shown in the photo below, and onion soup and tea.
They also had curry available for those who wanted rice, and granola and milk for those who liked granola.

My impressions after staying at R&B Hotel Umeda Higashi
This is not a particularly distinctive business hotel, but considering the price and location, it is definitely a candidate for a regular stay in Umeda.
At night, since it is close to the downtown area, I was worried that it would be too noisy to sleep, but it was surprisingly quiet even with the window open and I was able to sleep.
The sink is the size of a business hotel, so it was a little cramped.
I kept bumping into it, but it was no problem.
Since I had eaten at a restaurant that was quite smoky, it was very helpful that there was deodorant in the room.
However, there were only about three places to hang hangers, so I wish there was a place to hang hangers on the opposite wall as well.
Other than that, the breakfast was sufficient and the room was clean, so I was satisfied.
Above all, I was grateful for the good location and value for money.
I recommend it.

My Comment:There are robe-type loungewear available. If you prefer separates, it’s a good idea to bring along some pants for the bottoms. It wasn’t noisy outside, but if it bothers you, you might want to bring earplugs to sleep more comfortably.
This time I stayed over the weekend, but it seems that you can get a cheaper rate on weekdays.
The next day I headed to Namba from the hotel, which was very convenient as it was only a subway ride away. If you’re looking for a slightly more upscale place to stay, I recommend the Washington Hotel, which is part of the chain.
