Stay with your dog at Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park
I knew of the Fairfield, a Marriott-affiliated hotel that’s easy to use and similar to an American motel, but I’d never had the chance to stay there before, so this was my first time staying at one.
This time, I was traveling with my dog, so I stayed at the Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park, which allows pets.
In preparation for my reservation, after booking through the website, I was asked to submit a pledge for traveling with a dog, a vaccination certificate, and a rabies vaccination certificate.
Since rabies vaccine certificates are not issued at government-administered vaccinations, I had to ask via email what to do.
I was told that they would provide a dog mattress in the room if I requested, so I emailed them in advance to try it out.
Dog dishes and litter boxes are provided, but no cages or other items are, so you’ll need to provide your own.
We arrived around check-in time of 3:00 PM and took a short walk around the hotel
As its name suggests, Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park is located right next to the large park facility, Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park.
The park facility’s parking lot is large, but it was so busy that there were no more spaces available. I wondered where to park, but when I followed the signs that said Hotel Parking, I found a parking space reserved for hotel guests at the back of the hotel, so I was able to park without any problem.
The exterior is a modern design with a calm feel.
I headed to the front desk with as much luggage as I could carry and my dog.
This is the lobby next to the front desk.
Perhaps because it was still early, there were only a few guests there.
During check-in, I was told that I would need to put my dog in something to transport him, so I stuffed him into a kangaroo pouch-like bag I had with me.
There was an elevator, so it seems that the guest rooms are on the first and second floors.
It seems that only a limited number of rooms allow pets, so we were given a room at the very back on the first floor.
We were given a card key and card key cover and were told not to lose the card key cover as it could be used as a discount coupon for nearby facilities.
The chic hallways were lovely.
And here is today’s room.
It’s the most standard room at 25 square meters.
A stylish design that does not separate the bedroom and bathroom space.
Also, although it’s unclear whether these are only provided in pet-friendly rooms, there were non-slip mattresses, dog mattresses, and dog amenities provided.
Although it’s compact, the sofa by the window is large and looks very practical.
When you’re traveling with a dog, you have to be careful not to cause any trouble to the other accommodation, so even if you’re given a large room, the areas you have to pay attention to increase, so a normal-sized room is best.
The amenities are all in order and the furnishings have the luxurious feel of Marriott quality.
I forgot to take a photo, but the room also comes with a separate toilet, shower room, and TV, completing the layout.
Well, it’s pretty simple.
The hotel has a dining space next to the lobby mentioned earlier, and instead of providing services such as dinner or breakfast, guests are required to bring their own food or buy snacks like pizza at the hotel.
There is a coffee/tea machine and a sink available for use.
To accompany dinner and breakfast, tea, instant miso soup, spoons and forks were also provided.
Vending machines where you can buy drinks,
and there is also a washing machine and dryer available for long-term guests.
There is also a small shop selling beer, wine, snacks, etc.
You can also buy light pizza and premium ice cream here.
We had pizza in the evening, and it wasn’t a small whole pizza, but rather a large slice like a frozen New York pizza that you heat up in the microwave and toaster.
The crust was thin so it wasn’t very filling, but it was delicious.
For guests looking to enjoy a more proper meal, I recommend buying your own food before checking in and then heading to the hotel, as many comments on Google Maps have mentioned.
You can go out, but it can be a bit of a hassle as you have to check in and then get in the car.
Experience the dog run at Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park and stroll around the grounds
I had checked in advance and found out that there was a dog run in a corner of Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park next to the hotel, so I decided to check it out.
That’s right, once you have a dog, everything becomes dog priority.
If you go up the road next to the hotel, you will find the back entrance to the park, and if you go around there you will find the dog line.
There are two dog runs available, one for small dogs and one for large dogs, and they are free of charge.
I’m grateful that it’s free. Please use it while being grateful to someone who will take good care of it. Don’t make it dirty.
This photo was taken later, but on the day, there were lots of dogs playing in both dog runs.
The dog run for large dogs was filled with people bringing along Dalmatians, Great Danes, Labrador Retrievers, and other breeds that are hard to see in the city, and it was a fun place just to look at them.
My dog also had sparkling eyes as he played with the other dogs (chasing them around) and was having fun being tossed around by the larger dogs.
After playing for a while, we walked towards the main entrance of the park.
It was already evening, so most of the shops were closing, but there was a yakisoba food truck that was still open in the square in the center of the park, so we had yakisoba for dinner.
The name Satoyama in the park may come from the fact that part of the park recreates the scenery of an old Satoyama.
I’m so jealous of people who have such a spacious park so close to home.
When I checked the map, it looked like there was a roadside station here, but the facility was so vast that it was hard to tell which one was the roadside station.
The park entrance closes at 6:00pm, so I only had a short stroll around the park before closing time arrived.
Various benefits available to guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park: Satoyama no Yu
Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park offers several benefits to guests staying at the Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park.
One of these benefits is Satoyama no Yu, a hot spring located within the park grounds, and guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park can enjoy a discount on admission to the baths.
It’s open until 10pm, so it’s best to use it early.
There was also a foot bath next to it, but it closed at 5pm.
The front desk staff told me that towels are not provided when using the hot spring, so I should bring a towel from my room with me.
I was able to take advantage of this hot spring before it got dark.
There is also a restaurant called Satoyama Shokudo on site, so if you can use it between 5pm and 9pm (last order), this might be your last oasis for finding dinner on foot.
The hot spring has many outdoor open-air baths, and you can soak in the warm water while looking at the trees and flowers in the beautifully maintained courtyard, which was a great way to soothe the fatigue of your trip.
Various benefits available to guests staying at Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park: Satoyama Cafe
Breakfast is not included at the Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park.
It is a completely bed-and-breakfast option.
So what about breakfast? Well, there is a place called Satoyama Cafe on the grounds of Satoyama Park, just next to the hotel.
Breakfast is available here from 8am.
The shop was run by a young woman.
It seems she may be serving alone in the mornings.
The interior of the shop had a calm atmosphere with a wood motif, and there were table seats, counter seats, and also table seats outside.
Since we couldn’t eat inside the restaurant with our dog, we decided to have breakfast at a table in front of the restaurant.
We had a toast set and a cafe latte.
The front desk staff told us that we could also receive a Fairfield accommodation discount here, so we should definitely take advantage of any discounts we could get.
The toast was so delicious that we devoured it in no time.
It would have been nice if they had included a small dessert, but we were more than satisfied.
It was delicious.
Thank you for the meal.
My impressions of staying at Fairfield by Marriott Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park
I’d read some pretty harsh reviews from other guests, saying the service was poor and the hotel didn’t deserve to be called a Marriott hotel, so I was a bit wary. However, I had no complaints about the front desk staff or the service during my stay.
The dog cushion they provided was very nice, and when I asked what manufacturer it was, they kindly told me and even provided a flyer, which I was very grateful for.
It was made by Ambient Lounge and was quite sturdy.
I thought I’d like one for my home, but my house is too small, so I gave up.
I think your satisfaction with this Fairfield inn would be enhanced by using the facilities at the neighboring Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park.
I particularly liked the spacious, free dog run and the hot spring facility, which is available at a discounted rate.
It would certainly be great if there was a small convenience store where I could buy food in the evening and morning.
However, on the other hand, if there was such a place, the parking lot at Satoyama Park directly across from it might fill up with car campers overnight, so it’s a mixed bag.
I think it would be nice if there was at least a service like selling rice balls for breakfast.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of this in the future.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the stay. The facilities were luxurious and very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the price was reasonable.
As I was traveling with my dog, this is definitely a place I would like to return to again if I have the opportunity.
