Invitation to stay at the Grand Hyatt Taipei
I was invited to stay at the Grand Hyatt Taipei, one of Taipei’s five-star hotels, boasting an incredible location right next to Taipei 101.
While I was planning my trip to Taiwan, a long-time friend and my travel mentor told me, “I have a free night voucher for a Hyatt that’s about to expire, so I’ll give it to you.” And just like that, I received a free one-night stay on the Club Access floor of the Grand Hyatt Taipei!
According to my friend, they hold Hyatt’s top-tier Globalist status.
As a status reward, they have the right to free nights at Grand Hyatt hotels worldwide.
Since I happened to be planning a one-night stay in Taipei, my stay at the Grand Hyatt Taipei was quickly arranged!
Arrived at Grand Hyatt Taipei
On the day of our visit, we arrived at Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station, the nearest station to the Grand Hyatt Taipei.
As soon as we emerged from the subway and onto the street, Taipei 101 greeted us.
I had only ever seen it at Tobu World Square before, but it’s huge!

I arrived at the Grand Hyatt Taipei in about 3 minutes on foot.

Upon entering the entrance, you are greeted by an open lobby hall, creating a sense of spaciousness.

The chandelier at the front of the entrance also has a luxurious feel.

Check-in takes place at the check-in counter next to the lobby floor.
There’s a separate check-in counter for Globalist guests, staffed by efficient hotel staff, but it was standing room only, giving it the feel of a city-style hotel.

According to her, our Globalist status was applicable to our stay, and we were upgraded to a club access floor.
My friend told me to “try asking for a room with a view of Taipei 101, even if it’s a long shot,” so I asked them to check at check-in just in case.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t provide a twin room, but they had a room with a king-size bed and a view of Taipei 101, so we opted for that room.
We went to a room on the club access floor with a view of Taipei 101.
As expected of a large city hotel, check-in was quick, and I received my room key.
It was on an upper floor, just as I’d been told.
Upon exiting the elevator, I found a club lounge with a sign that read “GRAND CLUB.”
Apparently, they offer drinks and snacks here, and in the evenings, light meals and alcoholic beverages.
It seems to be a service exclusively for guests staying on the club floor, so I’ll check it out later.

As you proceed down the elegant corridor, you will arrive at your room for the night.

Here’s today’s room.
It’s a double room with a view of Taipei 101.

A modern room with a white and red color scheme.

Each piece of furniture looks luxurious.

The bed looks very comfortable.
It combines modern design with a touch of Asian flair.

There were plenty of complimentary bottles of water (four bottles).
A good quality coffee machine was also provided.
The room bar had snacks, instant noodles, and several kinds of soft drinks in the refrigerator.
Alcohol didn’t seem to be available in the room, perhaps because it was served in the lounge in the evenings.

The bathroom sink area is also spacious.
Having a deep, large bathtub is a welcome feature for Japanese people who want to soothe their travel fatigue in a bath.

The washbasin area is also spacious and has a modern design.

The shower is a separate unit.
There are two showerheads: a large, fixed overhead type and a movable one with a hose.
The toilet also has a bidet function.

The amenities were individually packaged bottles of “BALMAIN” products.
It seems to be pronounced “Balmain,” and it’s a hair care brand from a popular French company.
The amenity’s fragrance is a blend of orange blossom, jasmine, star anise, and tarragon spices, evoking a summery day. After using it, I noticed my hair felt incredibly smooth and manageable.
The fragrance was also very luxurious and pleasant.
Apparently, the same products are provided at the high-class hotel “Hotel Allamanda Aoyama” in Japan.
I haven’t stayed there myself, so I can’t say for sure, but “Allamanda” is a hotel brand that offers a sophisticated adult resort experience with all-suite rooms, including the refined adult relaxation space and heartfelt hospitality of “Shigira Bayside Suite Allamanda,” a resort hotel in Miyakojima, Okinawa Prefecture, providing a truly relaxing experience in a tropical resort style.

The slippers are really fluffy, aren’t they?

Now, let’s check the view of Taipei 101 from the room I was looking forward to.
It wasn’t a direct view of Taipei 101, but I could see it from the sofa, looking up at it.
I imagine the view would be even better from the suites or the slightly more expensive club lounge rooms.
I’m looking forward to seeing Taipei 101 at night.

I took a peek into the club lounge.
Upon check-in, I was quite thirsty from traveling, so I decided to stop by the club lounge and have a drink.
Small scones and several soft drinks were available.
There were only a few other guests.
It felt a bit wasteful considering how spacious it was.
I enjoyed a short rest in this luxurious and spacious area, surrounded by calming furnishings.

You can see Taipei 101 from the lounge as well.

I’m going to enjoy the luxury of swimming in the city.
This hotel has its own private outdoor pool.
Being able to swim in a pool right in the heart of the city is the ultimate luxury.
After finishing lunch at Taipei 101, I changed into my swimsuit and headed straight to the pool.
Bath towels were provided at the pool.
There was also a gym and spa on the same floor.
The ceiling leading to the pool was stylish.
This is the hotel pool.
You can swim while gazing at the skyscrapers.
The pool isn’t particularly large, but it has a 20-meter wide adult area and a shallower children’s area, with beach chairs surrounding the pool.

I got a towel from the bar counter and went for a swim.
The sun was already setting, so the pool was in the shade, and the water felt a little cold, but it was refreshing and felt great.
I tried to order a beer at the bar to at least pay for a drink, but they told me, “We’re not serving drinks at this time,” so I got a free glass of lemon water instead.

In the evening, I went for a massage and visited a night market.
I’m sharing some places that looked ordinary but had delicious food.

Taipei 101 at night
Oh, I’d almost forgotten, but I saw Taipei 101 from my room window at night.
It was so close, I couldn’t see the top.
It was an amazing view.
We will also have breakfast in the club lounge.
Guests staying on the club floor have a separate breakfast service from regular guests.
Regular guests eat a breakfast buffet at the “CAFE” on the first floor.
To be honest, the regular breakfast was perfectly fine for us, but we weren’t informed about the breakfast options at check-in, so we weren’t sure if we were allowed to use it.
So, I’ll have a quiet breakfast in the club lounge.
The buffet area in the club lounge isn’t very large, so there aren’t many options, but the quality of each item is quite high.
I’ll take plenty of salad, delicious-looking ham, and smoked salmon.
The smoked salmon was delicious.
And here are omelets and piping hot shumai, each made individually by the chef.
This omelet was incredibly delicious.
Then there was okonomiyaki-flavored bread topped with bonito flakes, dessert, and a cafe latte.
All in all, I was completely full after eating all that.
I also had breakfast for free, so I really did stay there without spending a single yen.
My impressions of staying at the Grand Hyatt Taipei
The hotel’s appearance and atmosphere were truly befitting of a luxury establishment.
The concierge was very polite, and although they didn’t explain much about the hotel’s facilities, I suppose that’s typical for a hotel stay in a city.
Everything exuded luxury, which made me a little nervous.
I was disappointed that I couldn’t use the light meal service in the lounge, but the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious, and the breakfast was leisurely and delicious.
I shamelessly looked it up, and it turns out that a single night’s stay would normally cost over 50,000 yen!
Wow, I’m surprised.
I don’t know when I’ll be able to stay here at my own expense again, but it was a wonderful experience.
I’m grateful to my friend for inviting me.
Although it’s a bit far from Taipei Main Station, it’s only a few minutes’ walk from the nearest station, and you can use the walkway that connects to Taipei 101, so even in the rain you can get there via a covered walkway, making it convenient for shopping and dining.
It’s rare to have the experience of being able to see Taipei 101 from your hotel room, so it was a truly wonderful experience.
